when i open konqueror it has a very strange behaviour :

if i click on "home" the mplayer opens
if i click on "network" i get the message : unknown adress (URL) : remote:/.
if i click on "programs" i get the message : applications:/ is a folder, file is expected.
if i click on "trash" i get the message : unknown adress : trash:/
if i click on "settings" i get the message : settings:/ is a folder, file is expected.

any ideas ? thanks a lot

Sounds as if you have been in kde Control Center changing things a bit.
Try going to control Center and resetting things through the tree back to defaults. Each item in the tree has a "Defaults" button.
