I'm currently working with another Gentoo-user on a system that doesn't have internet-connection.
We can download from mirrors etc with the use of a different pc so that's no problem.
The problem is that if we download the stage3 files from a server it has the timestamp of 28-11-2006 and we can't download the corresponding portage anymore. This gets us in trouble because more recent portages point to more recent packages! When we execute the command for emerging the kernel for instance it wants to download that newer version.
How do we avoid having to download manually all these newer packages?
A way I came up with is to get the corresponding portage but is it possible to download the portage with the 28-11-2006 timestamp or is it possible to get the latest portage downgraded in any other way? I've seen patches for that date, but don't know if we can use those to downgrade. _________________ webmaster van www.koenderoo.nl

Portage snapshots that match the released stages are under /releases/snapshots/yyyy.n/
e.g.: http://gentoo.tiscali.nl/releases/snapshots/2006.1/
Any package you want to install or upgrade still has to be downloaded and brought to your PC.
In some cases, the sources/patches might not be available anymore.
