Can't open /dev/fbsplash

Hi!

As I want to have a bootsplash I followed these instructions: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_fbsplash .

But I get no splash at boot and testing splash with

[Dan]

Did you setup your kernel with framebuffer support build it and reboot? Which did you use?

What kernel are you using?
