Hi

Out of nothing my gdm stops working correctly and i have absolutely no clue why.

The gdm start fine but if i try to login the WM crashes (either beryl or fluxbox) and gdm restarts.

Xorg.log tells me the following:

Code:

AUDIT: Fri Feb 23 17:02:02 2007: 29116 X: client rejected from local host
Auth name: XDM-Authorization-1 ID: -1

I tried to re-emerge gdm, and nvidia drivers but it didn't help.

xdm and startxfce4 work normally. Found a lot of people with the same or a similar problem but no solution for it.

Pls help
Thx

I just had a similar issue this morning after a bunch of updates, depclean, etc...
As it turns out, during my depclean, xdm had been removed. gdm would still start, but wouldn't connect me to the X server after login with the same error in the Xorg log

I emerged xdm, and I can now login fine with either xdm or gdm.
