hey all,
I'm currently installing a hardened gentoo kernel and before I go any further i wanted to double check something. The default value placed in my make.conf file for CHOST is "i386-pc-linux-gnu" but that shouldn't be right because my cpu is a pentium 4 it should be a i686 right? how can I figure out whats going on?
thanks

I think that you just downloaded the wrong Stage 3 archive.
You need to download the i686 archive.
For exemple :http://adelie.polymtl.ca/releases/x86/2006.1/stages/ |

I think that you need to redownload, because each architecture have a different Stage 3 archive. |

legit,
You can change the CHOST if you follow this guide
If you are not very far on, a reinstall may well be faster. You should get the stage 3 with i686 in its name for a P4. It will have CHOST=i686... set in it. _________________ Regards,
