I get this error during booting
The Gentoo Linux system initialization script have detected that your kernel has been compiled without DEVFS support. Blah-blah-blah ....
I recompiled kernel several times but still get this error.
Could you please advise what option should I turn on in kernel configuration.
Thanks |

under the filesystem heading enable devfs--or an option that is named simliar to that. Just to be safe I also enabled all of the options that then appeared under that. _________________ What boots up must come down. |

I believe the actuall name is /dev filesystem , it's under /proc filesystem I believe. To see this you must also enable prompt for code maturity level bla bla bla.... |

Things labled as 'experimental' in the stable branch of the kernel are *USUALLY* pretty safe to use. The ones that you want to stay away from are labled 'dangerous'.
I'm not sure I'd enable a bunch of experimental things for a server, but I would (and do) enable them for my desktop.
