Hello,
I've got a DELL inspiron 6400 and I try to make working my:
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
I've saw some topic on google speaking about installation of this adapter but none of them is working.
(for example: http://www.sabayonlinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_6400/e1505 )
I've first tried to install ieee80211 ebuild (as I was with a 2.6.17 kernel) and this last one failed with the following:
* Checking for suitable kernel configuration options...
* ieee80211-1.1.13 requires the in-kernel version of the IEEE802.11 subsystem to be disabled (CONFIG_IEEE80211)
* Please check to make sure these options are set correctly.
* Failure to do so may cause unexpected problems.
* Once you have satisfied these options, please try merging
* this package again.
!!! ERROR: net-wireless/ieee80211-1.1.13-r1 failed.

Ok, then, I upgrade to gentoo-source-2.6.19-r5
And tried to
Code: | emerge ipw3945d ipw3945-ucode ipw3945 |
And it's failed with:
Quote: | * Found sources for kernel version:
* 2.6.19-gentoo-r5
* Checking for suitable kernel configuration options... [ ok ]
* net-wireless/ipw3945-1.2.0 does NOT use net-wireless/ieee80211 any more.
* We are now relying on the in-kernel ieee80211 instead.
* Please remove net-wireless/ieee80211 using emerge, and remerge
* your current kernel (2.6.19-gentoo-r5), as it has been altered

unmerge the stack and enable "generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack in the kernel", enable WEP encryption and CCMP too if you plan to use WEP or WPA. |
