hello,
i'm having a problem while booting my system (gentoo-sources 2.6.19) when gentoo tries to set the system clock using the hardware clock, my system hangs. i've been looking for a solution, but i just can't find the answer.
i've tried with and without rtc compiled in the kernel. but that didn't do anything good. i tried setting it from "local" (dual boot with windows vista) to "utc" and back. no result either. the gentoo install cd as well as the knoppix live cd boots without any problem.
i'm getting depressed
does anyone know what's going on?
greetz,
wim

i think it's solved. although i really don't understand the problem. the system loaded nvidia en ndiswrapper (baked fot his kernel) before it synced the hardware clock. removing those two modules from /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 seemed to be the solution. strangely enough the modules are loaded, according to insmod. maybe i've missed some big change in how gentoo works with modules?
