keyboard problems

I'm having problems with a laptop keyboard after a few hours of use. I can not confirm if this is a consistent problem, but it sure is persistent. The keyboard input rate will just slow down to a single keypress over a period of a few seconds. The swap isn't being used and there are no processes taking up all the memory and or cpu usage.

How would I go about debugging this. I am able to use the mouse only and KDE is responsive.
