I'm trying to run an update, but two packages are blocking each other. This is the ouput of emerge -Duav world Code: | [blocks B ] <media-video/mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r2 (is blocking app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs-10.2)
[blocks B ] <app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs-10.2 (is blocking app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-10.2)
[ebuild U ] sys-libs/timezone-data-2007c [2007b] USE="-nls" 340 kB
[ebuild U ] media-libs/libart_lgpl-2.3.18 [2.3.17] USE="-debug" 296 kB
[ebuild U ] app-cdr/cdrtools-2.01.01_alpha23 [2.01.01_alpha20] USE="unicode" 1,538 kB
[ebuild U ] dev-libs/libIDL-0.8.8 [0.8.7] USE="-debug" 328 kB
[ebuild U ] dev-util/intltool-0.35.5 [0.35.4] 132 kB
[ebuild U ] dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8e [0.9.8d] USE="(sse2*) -bindist -emacs -test -zlib*" 3,264 kB
[ebuild U ] media-gfx/gimp-2.3.14 [2.3.13] USE="alsa gnome jpeg mmx pdf png python sse -aalib (-altivec) -debug -doc -gtkhtml -lcms -mng -smp -svg -tiff -wmf" 0 kB
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-soundlibs-10.0-r1 [10.0] 0 kB
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-sdl-10.1 [10.0] 546 kB
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-qtlibs-10.0-r1 [10.0] 0 kB
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs-10.2 [1.2-r1] 1,584 kB
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-10.2 [10.1-r1] 237 kB
[ebuild U ] media-video/mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r3 [1.0_pre8] USE="(-lirc%)" 6,569 kB |
As you can see, at the bottom of the list, a version of mplayer that I dont even have is blocking medialibs, and medialibs is blocking that. I'm not even trying to emerge that version of mplayer. How does one go about fixing a problem like this? The Gentoo handbook was very brief on blocked packages.

I have unmerged medialibs as well as mplayer-bin, but I am getting the following:
Code: |
gentoo-crazy ~ # emerge -pv =mplayer-bin-1.0_pre8
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!

[ebuild N ] media-video/mplayer-bin-1.0_pre8 USE="-lirc" 7,114 kB
[blocks B ] <media-video/mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r2 (is blocking app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs-10.2)
Total: 2 packages (2 new, 1 block), Size of downloads: 7,114 kB
gentoo-crazy ~ # emerge -C emul-linux-x86-medialibs

I am guessing portage is screwed up some way. Haven't had this prob yet so don't really know how to troubleshoot. Can't reemerge rc1-r2 as it is not in portage anymore. Tried searching forums for my particular prob and couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance for any help here... |

The way I interpret that error is that you need mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r2 or higher for it to work. (Notice the less than sign < before mplayer-bin) |
