|
|
My ATI TV Wonder uses the conexant 2388x chipset, but the CX2388 driver is suspiciously absent from the 2.6.19-gentoo-r5 kernel even though many tutorials on tv tuners show it as being there since the 2.6 series kernel started. I have the very latest stable kernel and I just want my card to be recognized properly... it is found as a valid device in lspci but does not get loaded upon boot.
Also, what is a good, simple program to use for seeing video input? I don't want any fancy features, as MythTV seems too overloaded for me, and I certainly don't have a good enough TV signal to warrant recording. As long as I can see the analog inputs and the cable input I'm fine, I just want to get my Gamecube to be viewable like it is under Windows with DScaler.
Thanks for any help!

The driver for the conexant 2388x chipset is in the kernel under the make menuconfigselections Code: | Device Drivers --->
Multimedia devices --->
Video Capture Adapters --->
Conexant 2388x (bt878 successor) support |

See, I looked there and it wasn't listed... I have no clue why.
Maybe it was temporarily removed in r5 for obscure reasons? I know I have the latest sources, I even did a full emerge -e world on my system afterwards to make sure everything was all fresh and new.
Edit: here's what I do see in that exact category:

Do you have I2C bit banging enabled? A lot of the cards and tuner devices will not show up without this enabled
