Does anyone know why on a Linux box if I do a:
I can pick it up ICMPv6 packets on another computer on my local network using a packet sniffer?!
If I do the same command on a Windows machine the packets don't leave the network interface. This is how it should work!
"ff01::1" is the interface-local multicast address. Packets sent to this address shouldn't leave the interface.
Please, if anyone knows why this is happening please tell me!
Thanks! |

the only thing I can think of is that somehow ping6 doesn't recognize it as a multicast address??? |
