|
|
I'm using a Kensington Three Button Optical mouse through a KVM switch ( LINKSKEY LKV S04SK Slim KVM Switch ).
I just upgraded to 2.6.20 kernel, and have successfully installed gnome.
Even on the gnome login screen, the mouse is uncontrollable, and ends up at random places, and even clicks by itself sometimes. It usually ends up in the upper left corner.
below is my xorg.conf file
any help or direction with this would be appreciated greatly ..

First: in general, the "code" formatting option makes config files much easier to read.
It looks like you have the mouse set to the "Microsoft" protocol. Try "Auto" out instead. If that doesn't work (although it should), tell me what sort of a connection your mouse and KVM switch use and I'll try to give a more specific answer. |

Sorry about the "Code" .. will be sure to use that in the future.
I changed it to "Auto" and then gdm-restart and it's working now.
Not that it matters much, but I actually did do the research, and had tried "Auto" _several times_ before and it still wasn't working. So I felt I had no choice but to resort to the forum and ask dumb questions.
Why it worked this time is beyond me.
many thanks, and apologies.
btw .. it was in the PS/2 ( I think that's what it's called ) input, and both the KVM and the mouse had the same connector, if you know what I mean....
thanks again.
also -- would like to label this as [SOLVED] but don't know how. |

You have to edit the first post of your thread, then you can add solved to the title.

Make sure you switch your KVM to your windows box then back and the mouse still works. This is a fairly common issue with these crappy little KVM's. I have them too.
Search the forums for "kvm mouse", plenty of good reading.

As far as marking as solved, I think you can just edit your original post. |
