Anybody know if there's a distro out there that's designed to function as a mailserver? It's the one thing (in networking, at least) that's repeatedly thwarted me. Latest attempt resulted in vpopmail throwing segfaults when I tried to create a domain. Pretty frustrating stuff.
There seems to be a distro for just about every purpose out there, but I haven't had much luck finding any for this aside from Scalix, which doesn't seem to have a free option (just the usual "the software's free, but it comes with a support package that steals your mother and takes both of your arms" thing). |

While not really a answer, I have used a combo of Postfix+Courier to run a SMTP+IMAP+POP server, and you can throw in Amavisd for spam/virus scanning. I will be happy to post some config files for you to use. It uses a MySQL backend and a php program to manage the different accounts/fowards. Maybe 2 hours to setup |
