Hello,

Has anyone been able to get ipw2200 working with udev 104 ?

I have see a workaround here :
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_ipw2200#Trouble_Loading_Firmware_2

but it no longer seems to work with udev 104.

BTW, is there a simple to just emerge the older version of udev ?

Me. Using suspend2-sources-2.6.19-r2 and ipw2200-firmware-3.0 and udev-104-r12.

You can block/mask packages using /etc/portage/package.mask.

additional info :

# udevmonitor --env
udevmonitor prints the received event from the kernel [UEVENT]
and the event which udev sends out after rule processing [UDEV]

blu3bird,

Did you have to create a rule in /etc/udev/rules.d ?

If so, what did you create ?

Yes, I managed to do that yesterday. My wifi works as a charm. I wanted to make a howto. If you want i will help you here.

I use kernel 2.6.19-r5 and udev 104 the latest.

Hints: you need to emerge ipw2200-firmware version 3. NO need to emerge ieee80211. AND, no need to add that udev rule that they mention in the link. Please show me all the relevant kernel settings.

Networking->Generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack
Device Drivers --->
Generic Driver Options --->
Device Drivers ---> Network Device support --->
Wireless LAN (non-hamradio) --->

EDIT: I wrote a howto herehttps://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-545406.html
