Hallo,
ich habe heute versucht die vmware 6 beta zu installieren.
Zuerst habe ich das ebuild zur version 6.0.0.36983 aus dem vmware-overlay benutzt.
Das funktionierte, jedoch wollte vmware den guest nicht mehr starten, da meine beta-lizenz nicht mehr gueltig war (da es bereits neuere versionen zur 6 beta gibt).
Also habe ich das ebuild zu vmware-workstation und vmware-modules abgeaendert (im prinzip nur die version geaendert) um die neueste beta zu installieren (version 6.0.0.39849)
die installation lief durch, jedoch kann ich vmware nicht mehr starten:

Bei der konfiguration mittels vmware-config.pl gab es auch warnungen (keine fehler), vielleicht haben die was damit zu tun:

danke, den thread kannte ich zwar schon, allerdings ist da heute ein beitrag dazu gekommen, der mich tatsaechlich weitergebracht hat:
man muss vmware mit

starten.
naja, dann bin ich etwas weiter, dann bekomme ich denselben fehler wie der gute VinnieNZ in dem englischen thread.
es scheint aber eine loesung dazu zu geben, (siehe http://diaryproducts.net/about/operating_systems/unix/installing_vmware_server_on_gentoo_linux_part_2) also markiere ich diesen thread mal als solved, sonst wirds noch zum dup  |
