could someone tell me how to get ipw2100 into monitor mode again, the ebuilds have been masked and removed from portage as far as i can see and the in-kernel drivers-modules wont allow you to get the card to work in monitor mode. so no kismet.... it doesnt allow you to change the channel so no special network configurations...this all has been possible before so its like getting back to a situation from 2 years ago.
i've tried kernel 2.6.19-rc5 and 2.6.20-ck
i feel like im under "debian rulez"
:/

I just tried installing the ipw2100 from sources taken from sf.net version 1.2.2:
this is what i have according to dmesg:
Code: | ieee80211: 802.11 data/management/control stack, 1.2.16
ieee80211: Copyright (C) 2004-2005 Intel Corporation <jketreno@linux.intel.com>
ipw2100: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Driver, 1.2.2 |
im trying with both kismet-devel from svn and kismet 2007 from the gentoo's ebuild, no avail.
the card used to work, i just switched to kernel 2.6.20 and that broke the armony.
how can i fix this error:
Code: | Source 0 (ipw): Enabling monitor mode for ipw2100 source interface eth1 channel 6...
FATAL: Failed to set channel 6 95:Operation not supported |

dont ask me why, but just removing the symbolic link for net.eth1 from the init.d scripts fixed the problem...
phps theres something wierd with those scripts that, if theres no AP in range, they dont finish or let the wireless interface in a "clean" mode?
