Is there any client like Share which is available for windows that can do the same thing ?? or for that matter something that can do the job similarly ??

Hi,
Could you be more specific? What does this "share" utility do under Windows? Or are you just referring to file/printer sharing in Windows? If the latter is what you are trying to do, then Samba is what you are looking for. The Gentoo docs include an Introduction to Samba as well -- I've linked to part 1 of 3. |

I see. Following the second link back to the French Share site, even with my very limited French I see that Share is closed source. I know nothing about the program or network, but that would seem to make it harder for someone to write a Linux version of the software.
If you are looking for anonymous P2P and don't care about the specific network, this tutorial on running the Azureus bittorrent client using Tor for anonymizing trackers and P2P connections might work for you. Bittorrent is surely more popular than Share!
Sorry I can't be more helpful here, but most of my P2P experience is with various bittorrent and gnutella clients. As you can tell from my first post, I've never heard of Share before. Perhaps someone else on the forums can help you out. |
