I am currently having an issue emerging this version of mplayer-bin. I have an AMD64 system.
I have unmerged medialibs as well as mplayer-bin, but I am getting the following:

I am not clear on how to procede as I do not have any of the blocking packages actually installed. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Why are you specifying mplayer-bin-1.0_pre8? It looks like if you'd merge >=mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r2, you'd be ok. It's only *less than* version 1.0_rc1-r2 (i.e. version 1.0_pre8) that blocks. Yes, you don't have it installed, but the list of packages *to be installed* has a block.
emul-linux-x86-medialibs-10.2 has an RDEPEND of !<media-video/mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r2, and mplayer-bin-1.0_pre8, which you are trying to install, is indeed <media-video/mplayer-bin-1.0_rc1-r2.
