I posted a reply in another forum earlier this morning, and noticed the timestamp was an hour behind. The forum server(s) live in the USA, correct? If so, somebody needs to push the big hand once around the dial.

I don't know whether it matters, but my client PC is definitely patched--my company made a big noisy stink about the updates (Clocks Change, World Ends! Film at 10--I mean, 11!).

I cleared the f.g.o cookies before posting--no effect. I posted this at 8:56am EDT, and the timestamp above (in Preview) reads 7:56am.

Looking in the timezone setting of my profile, it looks like it doesn't care about DST. I guess we're supposed to change that twice a year if we observe DST.

That's the rub: I don't recall changing my TZ since joining, and am pretty sure post times have always been correct. That implies the server's timezone is presently an hour off, wherever it is.

forums.gentoo.org are located in oregon at OSL Open Source Labs afaik.

The admins are probably waiting for the summertime change (DST) in europe on 25th march.

phpBB doesn't do anything fancy for DST, if you want it to be accurate you do need to change your profile. Also this isn't really that fixable as different countries change to DST at different times. As for the server it runs on UTC (as server's should) so won't make a difference.

I realized the latter once I re-visited the profile page, noticed it listed GMT offsets, and thought about it a bit. Clearly I :P just never noticed before.

Thanks.

Is there any chance for this forum, to be able to set in the profile the correct timezone (like Europe/Warsaw) instead of GMT offset, so the DST could be correctly applied ?

I don't see this option there. You may want to change your zone for the DST period.

Merged above two posts, see my reply earlier in the topic as to why this can't be done correctly.

shouldn't FGO's timezone be changed already? DST was today and it still says GMT-5 whilst logged out. (shouldn't it be GMT-4 now?)

(i'm not talking about the one whilst logged in, i already changed that one)

:P

DST isn't until the last sunday of March

Quote:
By the Energy Policy Act of 2005, daylight saving time (DST) was extended in the United States in 2007. DST starts on the second Sunday of March, which is three weeks earlier than in the past, and it ends on the first Sunday of November, one week later than in years past. This change resulted in a new DST period that is four weeks (five in years when March has five Sundays) longer than in previous years.

Respect, we can feign. Compliance on the other hand, why break tradition?
