Hi.
I'm now trying to use Compiz on my gentoo (I've had Beryl before and it worked)
With Composite disabled I have my ati card working properly (fglrxinfo and glxinfo give proper output), but when trying to start compis, it asks for Composite extension. However when enabling it I loose my ati support and it reverts to MESA (then compiz-start says there are no manageable screens)
Anyone knows what's wrong? Beryl worked for me with composite extension disabled)
Regards,
M. |

This does not help you with your problem...
But why are you switching from beryl. I got beryl and xgl working yesterday and I am so far totally happy with it (I own a mobility radeon x600). Even 3D applications work with http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=176636.
Greetings

I'm switching because it's buggy. For example little window overviews when having mouse over taskbar are rendered wrong. This is just one of MANY little things that annoy me a LOT. I've heard that Compiz is way more stable and has high-quality code. I'm just giving it a try (trying to give...?) |
