I am trying to get wireless support on a Compaq v2311. It uses a Broadcom 4813 wireless card. After doing some reading I found that I can use either fwcutter or ndiswrapper.
What I want to know is what does fwcutter do? I can't figure out if it replaces the firmware on the card itself or if it's just software.
Also in an unrelated question, is there any way to configure kernel option when installing Gentoo without using a file? Or should I just recomplie the kernel after the install? |

fwcutter extracts firmware files from a firmware image.
