|
|
hello,
i just did an emerge --deep world. it emerged some new alsa drivers, a new udev and some other stuff (not much). all of a sudden, i can't get into gnome anymore. in my log i see this error
Code: |
(EE)NVIDIA(1): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device! |
so i re-emerged nvidia-drivers, without any result. does this mean that alsa (or something else?) is conflicting with my nvidia driver? after emerging world i did a reboot. got into gnome fine. then i enabled new settings in alsa-mixer (it looks like my woes with my microphone would be solved now) but any attempt to boot into gnome now ends horribly. any ideas?
greetz,
wimbo

i just thought of something. i disabled alsa settings again. now gnome works fine. let's look for a combination.
EDIT: mysteriously all problems went away. with the new alsa-driver my mute button also works. i now have more options in alsa-mixer, but my microphone (both in-built as exterior) still doesn't want to record anything. although it works fine in knoppix. well, that's another search, i suppose. |
