after updating my kernel to 2.6.20-gentoo-r1 i cannot seem to get my earthmate gps unit to work. i had no problems with it using kernel 2.6.18-gentoo-r5 which i had for a while. but i wanted to update my kernel for new features for my wireless card. when i plug in my gps unit i get this in my dmesg:
Code: | usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
cypress 2-1:1.0: DeLorme Earthmate USB converter detected
usb 2-1: DeLorme Earthmate USB converter now attached to ttyUSB0
drivers/usb/serial/cypress_m8.c: cypress_serial_control - failed to retrieve serial line settings - -32
drivers/usb/serial/cypress_m8.c: cypress_m8 suspending failing port 0 - interval might be too short |
i did my best to make sure that the kernel includes everything it needs but i could be missing some thing. i have tried googling and looking through the forms for this error but all i get is the "patch" for the cypress_m8 driver in kernel-2.6.19-rc6 that adds in the error reporting code. i beginning to think that this patch broke the driver, at least for my gps unit.
thanks in advance for any help...
[edit]i tried using my old kernel and everything worked fine so i have come to the conclusion that either i am missing something in the kernel or the driver is broken. if i find out any more information i will post it here.[/edit] _________________ KajiShinigami |
