FFmpeg is supposed to support all the Real codecs, but when I try and play .rm files with ffplay they don't work. For example consider the two videos from the redhat site, TruthHappens.rm and Inevitable.rm...
TruthHappens.rm open a window and plays the sound, but the window itself is empty. The error message is,
Code: | [NULL @ 0xb7ebf828]Unsupported video codec
|
Inevitable.rm just completely fails with
Code: | [NULL @ 0xb7eb6828]Unsupported video codec
Videos/INEVITABLE.rm: could not open codecs
|
Does anybody know about this? Is it a bug with ffmpeg? |

No, they aren't, unfortunately. They support some of them, but not all. See this page for more info:

I think theres actually a Google SOC project for ffmpeg to reverse engineer one of the Real libs. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki |

The problem is the fact that Real's RV40 video codec is still locked up, meaning you'd need to link their propietary libraries in order to decode realmedia files (this could lead to legal problems). _________________ System: predatorbox
