I use
The console would tell me that it is shutting or has shutdown. Mouse and keyboard would be off. But the screen is still on desktop or shell and the computer is still on.
Thus, I have to manually turn off the computer by hitting the power button. Which constitutes as a improper shutdown. Next boot it would tell me my system is not clean and scans my HDD.
My hardware is 7 year old. But it should still shutdown normally.
Any idea why it is not shutting down properly? |

my idea is as follows:
you updated the system recently, but did not not check /etc/init.d and conf.d and whatnot.
could this be the case? |
