If they are commands which do something which needs to be stopped as part of the shutdown process, those closing down commands should go in /etc/conf.d/local.stop.
For instance, here, local.start sets up encrypted swap partitions and local.stop takes them down again.
There are also a number of encrypted partitions which are mounted manually as needed: if mounted, these are umount'd and luksClose'd in local.stop too. _________________ The avatar is jorma, a "duck" from "Elephants Dream": the film and all the production materials have been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, see orange.blender.org for details. |

hey wynn,
as i said i got the AP up and running
well i thought i would thin out all the extra crud from the kernel
the kernel that i used to work was a genkernel 2.6.19-r5
i compiled a new kernel, same version using menuconfig not genkernel,
but did not copy it over or set up grub i wanted to try the local.start thing
so i put "firestarter" in local.start
issued a reboot command
now this box, when i select the genkernel, as it is really the only one there to choose,
gets as far as "letting udev process events" and the thing reboots again, never getting
any further than that.
rebooted about ten times at the same place "letting udev process events"
any idea what i broke this time?
thank you for any advice,

No, I've no idea what could be causing the reboot. I think there have been some threads on a similar theme recently though. _________________ The avatar is jorma, a "duck" from "Elephants Dream": the film and all the production materials have been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, see orange.blender.org for details. |
