Thought I'd post my success story on getting WMP300N working as there doesnt seem to be much about this card on these forums, or anywhere on the internet for that matter, especially on an x86_64 system (amd64).
Working combination of software:
ndiswrapper: 1.40
wpa_supplicant: 0.5.7
Linksys driver: WMP300N_20061117_dr
Kernel: linux-2.6.18-gentoo-r4
Couple things I ran across while getting this up and running though.
With ndiswrapper 1.39, wpa_supplicant (using ndiswrapper driver) wouldnt connect. When running in debug mode, it kept spitting out "skip - no WPA/RSN IE" for my AP. When using the wext driver for wpa_supplicant, it still would not connect. I upgraded ndiswrapper to 1.40 and it still wouldnt connect, but switched the driver over to wext (wpa_supplicant -Dwext) and it immediately connected.
Additionally my system kept hard locking after installing this card. The issue turned out to be the mounting bracket on the card. The "L" shaped end thats held in by the screw wasnt far enough out, so the card didnt sit in the PCI slot all the way, and was hard locking because it didnt have a solid connection. I bent the crap out of the bracket and cut a new notch for the screw and that fixed it.
Not much other than that. Card is reported connected at 270Mb/s. |

ok, well after using it for a few days, it does have one issue. The hardlocks havent completely gone away, still get about one a day. From searching the web, this seems to be a common issue with ndiswrapper :-/ |
