Does anyone know if any of the normal desktop setups need ACLs or extended attributes?
I understand reiser4 doesn't currently support them (although it's just a matter of a plugin) |

No, they're not necessary for a basic desktop setup.
I would be cautious with Reiser4. |

I have a fast amd64 x2 machine with ups power backup supply so that's not a problem.
I heard beagle uses extended attributes. I take it that's not true? |
