Does anyone know if any of the normal desktop setups need ACLs or extended attributes?

I understand reiser4 doesn't currently support them (although it's just a matter of a plugin)

No, they're not necessary for a basic desktop setup.

I would be cautious with Reiser4.

- if you're having a slow machine
- no backup of your data at hand (applies to every testing of new features / filesystems)

I have a fast amd64 x2 machine with ups power backup supply so that's not a problem.
I heard beagle uses extended attributes. I take it that's not true?

it also works without attributes
