|
|
I have an Nvidia Geforce 6200 with TV-Out. Whenever I hooked my computer up to my TV, it worked. But now I got a 12 foot av cable to go half way across the living room so I don't have to move my computer all the time and it's not working. What's going wrong? |

What do you mean with "is not working"? You are plugging it to the same TV set?
It happens to me that if I don't have the S-VIDEO cable plugged when I start the X session I won't have a second screen (that is my TV out). Is this a bug or a feature? Does it happen to anybody else?
Could be that a too long cable might appear to your card as if there was nothing plugged in?? (supposing is the same tv). Try to plug the short cable and start X, then plug the long cable and see if it works. Please, also try to start X without anything plugged and see if you have two screens (I mean your PC monitor and the Tv out). _________________ Gentoo: the only software worth paying that is free. |

I figured out what it is. When I had it hooked up to the TV I had just the TV hooked up to it. Now that I have the long AV cable, I have both my monitor and the AV cable hooked up into it and it sees it as separate screens. Everything's fine now that I have it set up, but is there any way of having them mirror eachother? |

Mirror or clone? I guess you meant the latter... And could you test if you have two screens if you start X without the TV cable plugged? _________________ Gentoo: the only software worth paying that is free. |

Clone. And you don't have two screens if you start X without the TV cable plugged. I'm pretty sure you don't have two screens if you start X without the TV even on... >> |

I don't know if I must have the TV on, haven't checked. As for the cable having to be plugged in I found it rather annoying since I can't let it always plugged to my TV.
I don't know how to clone the output. There is a clone option on the graphic card section in xorg.conf. Iff youa plan to use your computer for movies I advice you not to clone the output and configure two screens instead, that way you can play a movie in your tv and still use your monitor. Search for "tvout" in gentoo-wiki.org. _________________ Gentoo: the only software worth paying that is free. |
