Hello again! I've just finished fixing the VMware sound problem, and now time for GNOME. I have some CDs that I ripped using Sound Juicer. I can play the discs just fine, although Totem gives me an error. :( Even still, I emerged Rhythmbox but when I try to import the music ripped from the discs (in ogg format), I get a message:

"There is no plugin installed to play a ogg file."

Totem says that it can't play CDs even though a plugin is installed. And besides that, Totem can play ogg files. This is driving me bananas! I thought that emerging gst-plugins-ogg and gst-plugins-vorbis (who knows what the difference is :?: ) but it didn't. Thanks for the help as always!

What USE flags do you use? Did you enable everything relevant, like "ogg", "vorbis" etc.?

I didn't set ogg or vorbis on my USE variable. I'm trying that now, and after an emerge --sync; emerge --newuse --update --deep world I'll see if it works. I'm crossing my thumbs! Oh, while I'm at it, GNOME doesn't play the system sounds, even though I installed esd and have it running. Could thi all be connected? Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone lol.
