Nautilus like thunar?

Personally, I like Thunar a lot, mostly for its user interface which is amazingly clean and simple, but gets the job done. But Nautilus integrates into gnome-vfs, which is really nice for accessing samba shares and stuff like that. It's a lot easier to use than FUSE.

So does anyone know if its possible to make Nautilus's interface like Thunar's? I heard somewhere that there's already the code for making customizeable toolbars in Nautilus, but it's not used by default for some reason. Can someone with some experience into Nautilus hacking help me out?
