When I try to tun gvim, terminal, firefox and other gtk based apps most of them are bombing out due to the following error:-
Code:
/home/peter/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0:8: error: unexpected identifier `le', expected character `='
/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:1: error: unexpected character `l', expected character `='
-:1: error: unexpected identifier `le', expected character `='
-:1: error: unexpected identifier `le', expected character `='

(vim:7345): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_internal: assertion `!(flags & G_PARAM_STATIC_NAME) || is_canonical (name)' failed
/home/peter/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0:8: error: unexpected identifier `le', expected character `='
/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:1: error: unexpected character `l', expected character `='
-:1: error: unexpected identifier `le', expected character `='

(bug-buddy:7347): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_internal: assertion `!(flags & G_PARAM_STATIC_NAME) || is_canonical (name)' failed

Any ideas what's happenning and what the cure is please?

Could you actually post the files referenced, or at least the specific lines
Quote:
/home/peter/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0, line 8
/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc, line 1
It looks like some screwed up shell scripting.

thanks for the reply - it turns out my hard disk is the problem. Lots of corrupted file messages on startup etc.
