Hello,
I am having the following problem with my Gentoo install. After completing the installation and rebooting, my computer begins to load the kernel and then it reboots over and over again. I have tried compiling the vanilla-sources 3 times and have been unable to solve this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

More information would be required to solve this, but it might be hard to get depending on the stage your system gets to in the boot process.

Follow the user guide line for line and make special not of the filesystem setup (fstab) and kernel compile stage notes.

Go through the kernel config with a fine tooth comb. Read all the help & and if you dont know what an option does then dont use it or take the default option.

Also try to compile things like network cars and file system support into the system. Make sure you have dev file system support and that it is mounted at boot (as per the user install guide). make sure you have chosen the correct processor type.

Compile other less critical things like sound, hamradio etc as modules as a monolithic kernel can be too large to boot.

The most common cause for a kernel crashing and causing a reboot is the wrong cpu type was selected or forgotten to be set during the
Code:
make menuconfig

Use the live-cd again to chroot back into your system then
Code:
make menuconfig

Processor type and features --->

Re-check that you set it for the correct cpu in your machine
