Hey all, I have just intstalled gentoo and am having a problem with my sound. I did lspci and found the sound card (nVidia CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller), and I believe the correct driver for this is snd_intel8x0, so that is what I compiled into my kernel as a module. Then I followed the rest of the instructions on the gentoo wiki for installing alsa, but every time I run alsamixer, I only get a dummy device. I tried to use alsaconf, but I always only get the dummy device. Does anybody know what is going on? Thanks for the help.

I am using the Intex8x0 module that I compiled into the kernel, but still every time I try to use alsamixer I can only change volume on the dummy device. Any ideas? Thanks.

Do you have load the module ? I think it isn't a good idee to compile the driver as a module, I think it's better to compile it directly in the kernel. _________________ JBen, a French who don't speake a good English... |
