|
|
When trying to burn to dvd I have the following problems:
1.
burning iso files makes everything extremely slow. (executing any shell command takes about 30 sec). If I do modprobe --remove ide_cd this stops the freezing. Writer still wont release cd though, need to reboot to do that.
dmesg outputs three lines repeated:
Code: |
hdb: drive not ready for command
hdb: status timeout: status=0xd0 { busy }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
|
2.
I've sucessfully burned files using nautilus cd burner. however if I try to burn one more session it fails. If I reboot I can burn files again.
when doing dmesg in this case i get these messages:
Code: |
hdb: DMA timeout retry
hdb: timeout waiting for DMA
hdb: status timeout: status=0xd0 { busy }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
|
the last 2 lines is repeated about 20 times and then cd ejects and system is back to normal. When this is going on it is slow as described above
I have the following modules loaded:
ide_cd
cdrom
pata_amd
libata
scsi_mod
My hardware is:
amd64 2600+ ( not running 64 bit os )
nvidia nforce3 motherboard
Lite-on SLW-831S-01 DVD+RW SLOT-IN SLIMLINE
Any ideas? |

I assume, the burner is connected to the IDE ports.
As a result, I think you should check the IDE cables. |
