Hi,
I am completely new on linux but I am having this question about the installation.
I read somewhere you have different kernel versions, for example vanilla-sources, but I tried to do this emerge vanilla-sources instead of the proposed gentoo-sources and he did not seem so create a symlink to /usr/src/linux by himself. Also I got a few error messages about services that where not started and they worked while I redid it with the gentoo-sources kernel.
Anyone can say what I did wrong, because I want to install a new pc with gentoo vanilla sources, but I am too noobie to get into trouble with the system |

As far as those services not being started are you sure that in the vanilla-sources you compiled in support for those services described in the startup scripts like /devfsd? _________________ When the Illusions of Reality fade,

With regards to not link to linux being created, it is not meant to do this as you may want to have mulitple kernel trees, so its up to you to create this link |
