Am partway through the install process several times and I keep getting emerge fail after 10+ minutes of compiling.
When it fails, the chrooted console just appears to freeze, whilst showing the message:
INIT: version 2.86 reloading.
Consoles CTRL+ALT+F2 and above still work though. And I can still ssh into the system, its just the emerge process thats gone dead (shows up as a Zombie process under ps axu which cannot be killed). I have to reboot to get emerge to work again.
Not really sure where to start looking for this one, if someone has any ideas it'd be appreciated. |

1. CPU temperature
2. Not sufficient or unstable power supply
3. RAM defective; try to check it with http://www.memtest.org/
4. Check the connectors in your computer: power, SATA/IDE, graphics card, ... |
