Ok, so this is an idea I've been messing with for a LONG time, and wanted to know what problems/how to manage this would be.
Ok, here is the scenario:
I've got a friend in, say, Finland whom I want to setup a network with. I want this to be a private, which I don't think would be such a hard thing to do (with ssh and all), but then say I want to add in another friend from, say, Belgium, who wants into the network. Well, dude in Finland doesn't want to open up their system to the new guy, and the info I want/need is the same as the guy in Belgium, so we work on trying to make an internet that is private.
Thinking on down the line, lets say everyone who uses Gentoo has this kind of setup (just for an example), and this isn't something we want, say, someone from Redmond getting into, so we use encryption and all that, and the info on this network is pretty much what the internet should have been (a place to share information, not a place to post pr0n (thats for torrents, people!), or blog about how you cut yourself when you are sad), how could this sort of thing be acheived? How could one make a, for a lack of a better term, an invitation-only internet? _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

the easiest think i can think of is having different users @ Finland and the finland guy to give u different permitions.

100% VPN!
IPsec in tunneling mode. |

Wouldn't that be quite alot of work after awhile, though? Managing possibly hundreds of accounts all the time? _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

for witch one do u speak?
for linux accounts..? u can have groups there.
same goes on for vlan/ipsec.
for example having 3 groups
users
advanced
admins
and those groups having different rights... can be done with no problem |
