Hi,
Looking for an alternative for gtalk in gentoo (voice call, not only chat) i found psi-jingle (i tried kopete and tapioca with jingle but with no success). But now psi-jingle isn't a branch in the psi repository like before... it is suposed to be in the mainline. But, when i tried to emerge the ebuild from the zugaina overlay, it fails because still wants to get the source from the now inexistent branch. So, i modified the ebuild to get the sources from the mainline, but it failed in the compile process because it appears that the mainline doesn't sopport the same options or configuration the psi-jingle branch used to support.... can anybody emerge psi with jingle in any way?
Thanks. |

ok, it seems that jingle support is in the portage version of psi (so now i don't need the zugaina version....) and, looking the code of the ebuild, it appears jingle is enabled by default.... but it didn't work for me... i'll keep trying.... |

jingle is an option in the developpement version of psi, that you can activate by raising the "jingle" use flag. I've tested it between with psi-to-gtalk and psi-to-psi communications, works as nice as skype concerning quality and bandwith.
but i'm not sure about the imediate integration of jingle in psi, since I do not see anymore the "configure-jingle" in psi 0.11-RC2 on the project webpage (except for mac). |
