After a recent update I get the following when I restart alsasound:
Code: | quasar etc # /etc/init.d/alsasound restart

The sound seems to work okay but I no longer have a volume control icon in my panel.
Has anyone else run into this problem?
Thanks,
Radix

Check to make sure you configured modules properly in your kernel? try enabling the ability to force module unloading in your kernel. _________________ I'm too lazy to keep this stupid signature up to date, so here's something more interesting:
My friend Hetdegon can draw if you ask me.
Now using PClinuxOS on my laptop and Gentoo on my desktop and new laptop. |

Good catch sonicbhoc. I actually stumbled on the same answer earlier this evening when I was playing around with modprobe -r which told me the kernel didn't support kernel unloading. No more error messages with the new kernel!
I still have the problem with the missing volume control in the Panel but that's apparently a different issue.
Thanks,
