top with negative %cpu, iptraf and ut2k3 server too

Hi all,

I am experiencing something very interesing.

I am now running Gentoo Linux for over a year on my server but one day it came that top, iptraf, and other tools are nearly joking.

• top shows heavily negative cpu percentages per process
  
• iptraf's detailed interface statistics shows me almost 0 kbit/s or very short a very huge value
  
• the Unreal Tournament 2003 server rejects to run because it calculates negative delta times
  

Very interesting, but exhaustive! And I did not change anything in C[XX]FLAGS. Although the kernel updates are not very frequently, but it may still be the kernel, because I didn't recognize this behavior very soon, and then ignored it for a while.

Please, can anyone tell me what's wrong?
