|
|
hi!
I have a vserver with Debian on it, which means that I cannot insert kernel-modules or rebuild the kernel (2.4).
Now I want to build a one-way VPN from my gentoo-laptop, through an http-proxy, to that vserver, so I can surf freely.
Is that possible without changing the hosts kernel? And if so... how? I found about one gazillion howtos, but I dont know which one to use (openvpn, tinc, pptp, etc.)
Any hints? Some perfekt solution?
Thanks in advance |

Maybe the tun/tap interface is already compiled into the kernel? check `zgrep CONFIG_TUN /proc/config.gz`
I don't know about pptp and tinc, I use openvpn myself. Recent versions of openssh can make use of tunnel devices as well. check the ssh man page for the -w option.
If all you need to do is surf, it's simpler to just use ssh forwarding without tun devices imho |
