In the newest version of KDE, 3.1.2, if I select multiple, when I click on one to drag it somewhere only *it* is selected, so I can only copy one at a time. This is unbelievably annoying. It's the same in other programs with file selection such as K3b. I had the same problem when I was using Linux-From-Scratch, and fixed it by downgrading Qt to 3.1.0. I am emerging Qt 3.1.0 right now, but would like to know if anyone has any info about this problem.

Had the same problem for sometime now, (since 3.1.1a). Having done quite a bit of trawling the net, discovered that alot of people have this issue, it is a bug in QT which is due to be fixed in the next release.

I find this bug to be incredibly irratating, the only work around I know is to make multiple selections then CTRL-C, CTRL-V into destination or switch the view to icons rather than detailed.

Hope the next release comes soon....

Ugh. Well it's still not fixed with qt 3.1.2. This is the most annoying interface bug I've ever seen. Luckily emerging 3.1.0 fixed the problem.

*nods* agreed, I find it somehow more annoying than random lock-up type bugs.. strange but there it is.

Another workaround ist to make a multiple selection with shift and immediately drag/drop at the same time.

this is odd, I dont seem to have that problem, but i keep hearing about it. Right now i am on kde 3.1.1a.

When i select many files they all copy, but during the drag, i get only one icon to show, but here are little boxes where the others should be, and all the files get copyied odd, i wonder what i have different.

It's not KDE's fault. This happens for me with KDE 3.1, 3.1.1, and 3.1.2. If I change Qt back to 3.1.0, everything works fine (i.e. I see little boxes when I drag-n-drop). I can't believe a professional company like Trolltech wouldn't have a fix out by now.
