I've compiled kdebase-meta, but when I try to start kde with kdm
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned was:
Could not read network connection list.
/home/marco/.DCOPserver_gentoo_linux_0
Please check that the dcopserver program is running!
I've already recompiled kdelibs and kdebase, but nothing happens!
The last time I've installed Gentoo I've installed the kde package, which worked well...
What can I do? |

Check your home directory. Make sure it's owned by you, and that the files have the proper permissions.
I'd start with this:
chown -R marco:users /home/marco

Dcopserver is not running
this is the output of dcopserver

I've tryed yet to reinstall kde, but I resolved nothing |

Try deleting /home/marco/.ICEauthority
Also, you could try deleting .Xauthority and .xauth*, but just delete the ICE one first, then try starting a KDE sesssion again.

Did anyone resolve this?
I have re-installed kde, reinstalled X, reinstalled qt, checked permissions of the files in /tmp and ~/ and removed those files and the DCOPSERVER still fails to start with the message "/usr/bin/iceauth: /tmp/dcopPfMg8b:1: bad "add" command line"
This is pretty ridiculous just to install a desktop program! |

Thanks to everyone for your replys.
This has been resolved.
I first:

So I quit and went on to GNOME and started messing around. Well, during my play I turned off arts or reset it some how, but not knowing this would change anything, I went back later on in the night to start messing with KDE again.
FINALY IT STARTED UP, YAY!
and when it started it told me that it was receiving errors from arts "something" and that was crashing it. I had also updated Xorg-x11, and some other things in world, but didn't update all of world. So it was arts that was crashing KDE but now its working just fine so I guess during my updates something needed to update arts and fixed the crashing. I think, GNOME uses something different that conflicted with arts somehow and sent KDE arts into a crash problem.
I hope this helps others and also give someone else ideas about how to fix this.
