Unfortunately these ebuilds here are unsupported, means we stand on our own, when problems comin' up. What puzzles me, when I look at your screenshot are also the missing default bookmark entries, you've only the 'home' entry on your bookmarks bar. Could this be a permissions problem? Did you try to run as 'root'?

I have the same behavior as root too :(

_Tina: you probably have to update some dependencies. are you using the whole overlay or just xulrunner ebuild? look at your nss version

I hope you have ccache and a fast computer. Then it would make sense (and would also be nice for others facing the same problem) to rebuild with exactly the same sources but with USE="-glitz" to see whether the culprit is indeed glitz.

Dottout is right, the version checks of the mozilla-build system for nspr and nss were improved, but are still not perfect. Therefore it doesn't complain during the run of configure that your nss version is not the one you need. You'll have to unmask >=dev-libs/nspr-4.7 and >=dev-libs/nss-3.12_beta2. Beware that you might have to rebuild then quite a few ebuilds that rely on these libraries, e.g. if you have mozilla-thunderbird-2.0.0.12 or evolution-data-server or ... probably the best to run revdep-rebuild.

rebuilding with USE="-glitz" doesn't fix any problem, at least for me :(

I am a bit confused here. Am I supposed to be using the mozilla overlay from laymen, which has the mozilla-firefox-3.0_beta3 and 3.0_pre20080228; or should I use the overlay (also called mozilla) in the first post of this thread that has the minefield builds?

I tried the minefield r4 ebuild and it failed at the 666_mozilla-glitz-cairo-v2.patch.

It seems that your user`s java configuration is bad or not complete, although I don`t understand why it`s being used in this way it was some time ago, when I`ve looked at java-config scripts...

libpng does not have any useflags.

Tobi

make sure you are using libpng from this overlay, not the portage ones

Thank you :)
Now it is compiling..very very long...

Tobi

This should be added to the dependencies!

Thanks

I'm having some issues with the last two ebuilds from the mozilla overlay provided by overlays.gentoo.org

Beta3 compiled and ran fine, 20080228 and beta 4 won't run. The binary executes but no windows appear.

when i run from command line I get
Code:
% firefox
No running windows found
Warning: Couldn't extract MOZ_USER_DIR from /usr/lib64/mozilla-firefox/firefox

And then it just sits there, any ideas? (and removing .mozilla/firefox doesn't do anything)

EDIT:

Use flags set are dbus, gnome, java

Working Oxygen Icons Theme for Firefox:
http://www.berniyh.net/oxygen.jar

Please make sure to checkout:
http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playground/artwork/Oxygen/firefox/

The theme is not from me, I just repackaged the current version of the KDE svn repo.
It works, but is not yet complete (for example close buttons on tabs with TMP won't work here)
and it's only the icons, currently, but looks a lot better, imo (not a big gnome fan, tbh ;)).

Edit:
Make sure to checkout the persona tip, it improves a lot, imo.

tried removing all use flags no difference, any ideas?

EDIT :: just recompiled without the pthreads patch, still didn't work but running /usr/bin/firefox, decided to try running /usr/lib64/mozilla-firefox/firefox-bin and it worked fine ... /usr/bin/firefox still doesn't work.

Semi-Final Update :: I re-enabled the pthreads patch, same results, /usr/lib64/mozilla-firefox/firefox-bin works , /usr/bin/firefox stub/link doesn't.

There's a new version of mozilla-launcher out, that removes that warning. Dunno if it helps to get the beast running, but worthwhile a try.

It seems that your user`s java configuration is bad or not complete, although I don`t understand why it`s being used in this way it was some time ago, when I`ve looked at java-config scripts...

I've build xulrunner with java-1.5, it seems that sun-java-1.6 doen't have javac or something like that, so everything is fine here now
ps. i also had to run export JAVA_HOME=/path/to/Java to get to the configuring stage
