Here's an interesting one, I've installed linux about a million and one times on various different computers, work gave me a new laptop so I thought why not scrub the windows installation and slap gentoo on it.
Anyway my 2006.1 minimal installation cd wont get past something, I've tried turning off apic, acpi, the frame buffer all to no avail with just nofb it gets as far as 'acpi assume root bridge bus is 0' then stops the CD and turns the fan on full blast with acpi turned off it still gets to a similar point and just does the same thing...
am i missing the obvious?
Cheers
Tom
Oh and I know I can boot some stuff cause i used gparted live cd to adjust my drive settings _________________ Remember, even at a Mensa convention someone is the dumbest person in the room!

The obvious is Gentoo installation disks are not the greatest. If it was up to me I'd stop releasing them at all and use freed manpower elsewhere. Most of Gentooer's here use some other LiveCD anyway. I prefer GRML, Knoppix is very good, too. _________________ My Gentoo installation notes.

Or as I've just discovered, downgrade to 2006.0!
Grr
So if anyone finds this thread and they're having problems with a Satellite Pro A120 with it not booting, downgrade to 2006.0! _________________ Remember, even at a Mensa convention someone is the dumbest person in the room! |
