i was having trouble with the "snap" font as well (among others). i have xfs running. xfs has the artwiz fonts configured. XF86Config references the artwiz fonts. i have the fonts.alias file from fluxbox.sourceforge.net in order to get around the problem with locales.
however, fluxbox absolutely, positively refused to display the "snap" font (and possibly others; i didn't try them) unless i turned off antialiasing in ~/.fluxbox/init. once i did that, the font party began as expected.
what i did:
in ~/.fluxbox/init, search for:
Code: | session.screen0.antialias: true |
and change it to false. try it and see if it works. |

Man what a pain in the ass, but at long last, I too have artwiz fonts working. CAREFULLY follow the instructions, and when editing your /etc/XF86Config-4 and /etc/XFontConfig, be sure to look at the syntax of the other entries (ie: trailing / at the end of pathname in XF86Config-4, but NOT in XFontConfig).
as a final step, download those font.alias/font.encodings files to your artwiz directory, restart X, and try a theme with artwiz fonts (or make a customised style, like me). It should work. I had artwiz fonts show up in xfontsel, but not fluxbox sessions. I carefully did the above, and now have those gorgeous little fonts.
Yay! |
