Hello everyone,
a few days ago I updated my kernel to 2.6.20-gentoo-r7 and compiled the new KVM into it. I have a Core 2 Duo E6400 on a Gigabyte GA-965G-DS3. Unfortunately, since the update vmware-server stopped working. As soon as I start a VM, the machine freezes and I have to hard-reset it. I also tried to cat /dev/kvm, and the system freezes, too. Anyone experiencing similar issues?
Cheers,

Same problem with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6.21-gentoo x86_64 and vmware-player/vmware-server/virtualbox.
Removing config_kvm and config_kvm_intel from the host's kernel solved the issue for me. |

Weird. I run 2.6.21-gentoo x86_64, but without KVM enabled, and have the same issue. When I start a linux guest, my host freezes. Windows guests work fine though. _________________ There are no dumb questions, just dumb answers. So please help users that are new to linux/gentoo by answering unanswered questions. |
