Now I managed to write an ebuild and it works fine :lol: However I'm a ebuild writer newbe :?
Here you can get the ebuild: http://www.linurs.org/overlay/media-tv/zattoo-bin/zattoo-bin-3.2.2.15122.ebuild
And the Manifest file: http://www.linurs.org/overlay/media-tv/zattoo-bin/Manifest
I try to pass it to the sunrise overlay and have done the first step adding it to
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178918

Now I have to learn and do the next steps :roll:

Hello Lubomir,

Stupid question, did you try out my ebuild :?:

I'm actually happy to have the ebuild on my web site, since I can emerge it from there as if it would be in the portage.:lol:
As ultimate goal it should end up at the sunrise overlay. Before I try that, I would like to test it more and honestly I think my ebuild needs some stylish cleanup :oops:
However it is better to have a basic up to date ebuild that works than a fancy out of date ebuild that does not work :wink:

No, i have not tried out your ebuild till yet. I thought it would be in near future in the sunrise overlay.

And yes, thats the reason why your ebuild should come into the overlay. Its not so important how clean it(should not do unnormal things) when it work. The ebuild in the overlay is realy not workin and a working one would be the first step :wink:

Zattoo-3.2.4.15876 is out and works fine.
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178918
Maybe the day will come when I will be able to submit it to the sunrise overlay :roll:

well, zattoo player works fine with me but I had some trouble with the symlinks, so here is my /usr/lib/zattoo directory:

Code:
ls -la /usr/lib/zattoo/
total 178
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root   608 sept. 26 09:33 .
drwxr-xr-x 115 root root 87536 sept. 26 09:12 ..

In meantime I have 3.3.0 up and running, and I try to move zattoo to /opt so it can be accepted by the sunrise overlay.
There are many ways to do the symlinks. Here what I have:
Code:
ls -la /usr/lib/zattoo
total 168
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root  4096 2008-10-02 20:38 .
drwxr-xr-x 139 root root 77824 2008-10-02 20:38 ..
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    19 2008-10-02 20:38 libcurl.so.3 -> /usr/lib/libcurl.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    32 2008-10-02 20:38 libfaad.so.0 -> /usr/lib/zattoo/libfaad.so.0.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root 80912 2008-10-02 20:38 libfaad.so.0.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    36 2008-10-02 20:38 libgtkembedmoz.so.0d -> /usr/lib/xulrunner/libgtkembedmoz.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    30 2008-10-02 20:38 libmozjs.so.0d -> /usr/lib/xulrunner/libmozjs.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    25 2008-10-02 20:38 libnspr4.so.0d -> /usr/lib/nspr/libnspr4.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    24 2008-10-02 20:38 libplc4.so.0d -> /usr/lib/nspr/libplc4.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    25 2008-10-02 20:38 libplds4.so.0d -> /usr/lib/nspr/libplds4.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    30 2008-10-02 20:38 libxpcom.so.0d -> /usr/lib/xulrunner/libxpcom.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root    28 2008-10-02 20:38 libxul.so.0d -> /usr/lib/xulrunner/libxul.so

If the right side has just the linker names (*.so without number) then it will be stable when updates occur.

Those are realy needed. Ask the zattoo dev's. Some of the things are only dependencies from other ones and not directly from zattoo.

This app is sooo unbelievably cool if you do not have cable/SAT/DVB-T

Managed to install it on amd64 from sunrise by hacking the ebuild a bit + copying a bunch of gnome libs to /opt/zattoo/lib from a 32bit chroot.
I created a tarball of those if any amd64 user wants them, they are compiled with standad emul-linux-x86 flags using gnome-2.24.

Do you really get:
Code:
00:10:07 12/01/08 [MSG] Current locale is C

If so, are you a C programmer :?
I guess you took the ebuild from https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178918 since sunrise is one version behind 3.3.0

that would be really nice, I'm here with amd64 too, and I can't watch zattoo.

Oops. Sorry for that delay.

The tarball is here, also that one is needed (I used a too new glib and gtk..)

You can use that ebuild, it should pull the gnome stuff too, and put it in /opt/zattoo/lib - so it will not mess up the rest of the emul packages.

Not really. But the guys on bugs.gentoo.org don't like German error messages. Thus before posting a problem, I change LC_ALL to C.

Yes, I took the ebuild from bugs.gentoo.org. And furthermore I changed some of the links, because the ebuild wanted to install xulrunner-1.8, which isn't installed on my system anymore. And all the libs are also available in xulrunner-1.9.

Why do you use that ebuild and not the one from the sunrise overlay? Do you use an 64bit system?

Maybe thats the reason for the segfault. However I used the same ebuild and let xulrunner-1.8 install, but I get a segfault as well...

The sunrise ebuild is for 3.3.0 and the https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178918 is for 3.3.1. However both ebuilds are identical they have just a different name. Since 3.3.0 can no more be obtained from zattoo, the ebuild from sunrise can no more be used directly. You need to copy it and rename it and update the manifest file. It seems that every month a new Zattoo version appears :oops:

Are other people having problems with 3.3.1 :?:

I'm using 3.3.1 without any problem, but I currently use one of my self made ebuilds (that does not follow the Gentoo rules, but it works well).

hi,

gimpels ebuild works just fine here (amd64) but there are some issues:

* i get no sound
* can't save config: "Could not send message to gconf daemon: The name org.gnome.GConf was not provided by any .service files " (kde system here)
* channel browser doesn't show up, using the epg i can switch channels

any hints?

Hmm anyone knows the latest version?

BTW: We’re sorry, but the linux version of the Zattoo player is no longer available for download.

on their website.
